Using Conditional Feature to Create Custom Metric name (Alias)
The Conditional metric feature offers a simple yet effective way to customize the display names of metrics and fields on your chart.
Here’s how to do it:
Select the desired metric from the list.
Switch from Basic to Conditional.
Enter custom name in the designated field.
In the expression field, type "P".
This last step tells the gadget to use the original metric value without any modification. As a result, your report's chart will display the metric with your custom name, enhancing clarity and readability for your audience.
Here’s a simple example with default metric name and custom metric name provided using Conditional feature:
Kate, an IT Support Lead, faced a common reporting challenge: the default metric, "Number of Issues” - Resolved, made her team's work sound reactive. Her manager saw "issues" and thought only of system failures and bugs, overlooking all the proactive services the team provided.
Using the Conditional feature, Kate made a simple but impactful change. She renamed the metric to "Customer Requests Handled".
Instantly, her reports became clear to non-technical audience. Her manager could see the team's true value, not as just problem-solvers, but as service providers. This quick fix transformed a point of confusion into a measure of success.
