Sprint Commitment State
Visualize the sprint-level commitment state by categorizing story points into groups: committed, completed, and not committed & not completed. This report helps assess the team's ability to meet commitments, identify areas for improvement, and ensure better alignment between planning and delivery.
Step 1: Add a Data Source. In our example, we’ve filtered our Scrum demo project and disabled the date range to view all previous sprints.
Step 2: Select ‘Story Points’ metric.
Step 3: Choose ‘Sprint’ for the ‘Display by’ field.
Step 4: Select the sprint board you want to analyze.
Step 5: Group by the ‘Sprint commitment state’ field.
Do not apply any filters to the Story Points metric or the Sprint field selected for Display by. Leave the selection set to “All”.
If you want to focus on the overall total and see the part-to-whole composition, stack by the Sprint commitment state field instead. This will display all relevant combinations of commitment and completion that occurred, such as Committed & Completed, Committed & Not Completed, Not Committed & Completed, and Not Committed & Not Completed.
Read our article on how Group by and Stack by handle multi-valued (array) fields, such as the dynamic Sprint commitment state field.
