Step 1: In the data source, filter Resolved issues from the past 30 days and the project you wish to analyze.

Step 2: Keep the default metric selection as ‘Number of issues’.

Step 3: Display by the ‘Resolved’ field and specify by Day.

Step 4: Stack by ‘Cycles in status’ field and add the statuses in category ‘Done’, such as Done, Closed, Resolved, etc. Configure slot splitters to categorize issues. In this example, we aim to identify issues that have been reopened two or more times.

You can further investigate these multiple reopened issues in Jira issue navigator by clicking on their bar stacks in the chart.

Here’s how we configured the ‘Cycles in status' field in detail.

  • <3 means issues reopened once or not reopened at all

  • >=3<4 means issues reopened 2 times

  • >=4 means issues reopened 3 or more times

The value "2" is not used as a separate slot splitter because issues that have not been reopened at all (which would be less than 2) are already captured in the category for issues with less than 3 reopens.
